Abstract. Listihani L, Ariati PEP, Yuniti IGAD, Selangga DGW. 2022. The brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) attack and its genetic diversity on rice in Bali, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 4696-4704. is an important pest crops of BPH isolates western Indonesia has been extensively reported, whereas eastern have not reported. This research aims to analyze evaluate the attack's intensity Bali plants. method used was observation percentage, population dynamics, intensity, 9 districts (Badung, Gianyar, Klungkung, Bangli, Karangasem, Tabanan, Denpasar City, Buleleng, Jembrana). Molecular identification carried out N. lugens DNA mtCOI fragment. attacks >50% were found Jembrana, Badung. primarily Ciherang IR-64 varieties Badung Regency, with 43.67 per hill. In general, grown all locations susceptible BPH, such as Ciherang, IR-64, Inpari 32, Situbagendit. varieties, highest average value reached 30%. sequence isolate from Jembrana showed nucleotide amino acid homology FSD-034 Pakistan (MK301229) biotype Y 99.5 -99.74% 100%, respectively. study plants for first time reported that Rice Situbagendit previously resistant are BPH.

Genetic mapping of the rice resistance-breaking gene of the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens.

Host plant resistance has been widely used for controlling the major rice pest brown planthopper (BPH, Nilaparvata lugens). However, adaptation of the wild BPH population to resistance limits the effective use of resistant rice varieties. Quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis was conducted to identify resistance-breaking genes against the anti-feeding mechanism mediated by the rice resistance...

Molecular mapping and genetic analysis of a rice brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stål) resistance gene.

The brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stål, is a serious insect pest of rice (Oryza saliva L.). We have determined the chromosomal location of a BPH resistance gene in rice using SSR and RFLP techniques. A rice line 'B14', derived from the wild rice Oryza latifolia, showed high resistance to BPH. For tagging the resistance gene in 'B14X', an F2 population and a recombinant inbred (RI)...

A reovirus in the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens.

A new virus, belonging to the reovirus group, was found in an apparently healthy colony of the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens, and was referred to as the Nilaparvata lugens reovirus (NLRV). The virus was found in the cytoplasm of the insect cells, sometimes associated with tubular structures, which is one of the characteristic features in tissues infected with reoviruses. The virus was p...

Agro-ecological zoning of brown planthopper [Nilaparvata lugens (Stal)] incidence on rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Multiple linear regression models (pest-weather models) were developed between monthly mean brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens light trap catches and monthly mean values of minimum temperature (Tmin), maximum temperature (Tmax), morning relative humidity (RH 1 ) and evening relative humidity (RH 2 ) observed at Maruteru, Andhra Pradesh during 2000-2007 kharif seasons. Comparison betwee...

Molecular cloning and immunolocalization of a diuretic hormone receptor in rice brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens).

RNA extracted from guts of rice brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens, was used to clone cDNA predicted to encode a diuretic hormone receptor (DHR). The DHR, a member of the calcitonin/secretin/corticotropin-releasing factor family of G-protein-coupled receptors, contains seven transmembrane domains and a large N-terminal extracellular domain potentially involved in hormone binding. The N-termi...
